15 Years of Equibreed UK: A Journey Worth Celebrating

This year, Equibreed is celebrating a very special milestone. It has been 15 years since the business first opened its doors and began its mission to offer exceptional equine reproductive services across the UK. It has been quite the journey, and this anniversary is a chance to look back at how far things have come, and to thank the many people and horses who have made it all possible.

Where it all began

Equibreed UK was founded in 2010 to combine scientific excellence with genuine care for horses. Right from the start, the team set out to raise standards in equine fertility services. They wanted to offer breeders not just access to advanced veterinary knowledge, but also a team who truly understood the responsibility that comes with working with these much-loved animals.

Amber Clutton-Brock, Founder and Head Vet, reflects on the early days: “Equibreed began as a vision to provide specialist reproductive care to mares and stallions across the UK. With a background in equine medicine and a deep personal passion for horse welfare, I wanted to build a business that was both scientifically progressive and completely centred on the needs of the horse. It’s been a privilege to watch Equibreed grow into what it is today, and I’m proud of the team and the trust we’ve built with our clients.”

Of course, no 15-year journey is without its hurdles. One of the biggest challenges Equibreed has faced was during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many parts of life paused, the breeding world didn’t stop. With safety and welfare in mind, the team adapted quickly. Strict biosecurity measures were introduced, and the business kept going to ensure breeding programmes could continue safely. Despite the uncertainty, the results were some of the most successful to date, with many healthy foals arriving thanks to careful planning and expert care.

It’s all about the people (and the horses)

Equibreed is incredibly proud of its team. The vets, grooms and support staff bring not only their expertise but also real passion for what they do. It’s that combination of knowledge and kindness that sets the business apart. The support of loyal clients has also played a huge role in the success of the last 15 years. Many have been with Equibreed from the beginning, and their trust means the world to the team.
